Which BAMA publication is this?
The British Aerosol Manufacturers’ Association describes the 2025 Guide to the Transport of Aerosols in its official transport library. Its 2025 announcement identifies the update as the 16th edition.
According to BAMA, the guide addresses UK and international carriage by road, rail, sea and air, with particular attention to limited quantities and the training needed. The guide’s publication year is not a substitute for checking the rules applicable on the date of carriage.
Limited quantities: confirm eligibility for each transport mode

For road transport, consult ADR 2025, including the applicable entry in Table A and Chapter 3.4. Check the product’s classification, the relevant quantity limit, packaging and marking requirements before deciding that the limited-quantity provisions can be used.

Using the guide for an operation involving Spain
Prepare a consignment brief with:
- The aerosol product and current safety data sheet, including transport classification.
- Container capacity, number of units, packaging arrangement and gross package masses.
- The loading and delivery points, transport modes and intended carriers.
- The proposed limited-quantity treatment and any questions about training, marks or documentation.
Review returns, damaged goods and waste as their actual condition requires, rather than assuming the arrangement used for new retail products is appropriate.
