From January 1, 2025, new rules for the international transport of dangerous goods by rail (RID) have come into force. A 6-month transition period applies, with some modifications having long-term exceptions.
Key Changes:
- Clearer definitions: The terms degree of filling and filling ratio have been updated for better understanding.
- Removal of TE 16 restriction: Wooden parts in tank wagons were previously banned for certain substances, but this restriction has been removed due to lack of justification.
- Level gauges: They can no longer contain transparent materials in direct contact with the transported substance.
- Molten aluminum transport: New safety, construction, inspection, and marking rules for containers.
- Refrigerated liquefied gases: Added requirements for pressure and holding time to prevent risks.
- Tank record: Now allowed in digital format.
- Updated standards: Tank construction and testing standards have been revised, without affecting previous approvals.
