I. GENERAL PROVISIONS
MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND COOPERATION

Multilateral Agreement M-236 pursuant to Section 1.5.1 of the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR), (published in the Official State Gazette number 182, dated 29-07-2009), regarding the transport document in route sales operations, made in Madrid on August 1, 2011.


MULTILATERAL AGREEMENT M 218
Under paragraph 1.5.1 of Annex A of the ADR
Regarding the marking (plates) of containers used exclusively in a road transport operation

  1. By derogation from subsection 5.3.1.2, the plates do not need to be affixed to containers that are used exclusively in a road transport operation, except for those carrying dangerous goods of classes 1 or 7.
  2. Each shipment transported under this multilateral agreement shall be accompanied by a transport document in accordance with section 5.4.1, containing the following information:
    «Transport of dangerous goods for road transport operation exclusively (M218)»
  3. Other provisions of the ADR shall be observed.
  4. This Agreement shall be valid until December 31, 2012, for transport in the territories of those Contracting Parties to the ADR signatories to this Agreement. If revoked by any of the signatories, it shall remain valid until the aforementioned date only in the territories of those Contracting Parties signatory to this Agreement that have not revoked it.

    This Agreement has been signed by the Competent Authorities of the ADR of:
    Spain.
    Portugal.

    Pursuant to section 1.5.1 of the ADR regarding the transport document in route sales operations
  5. As an exception to the provisions of 5.4.1.1.1, letter h), the name and address of the consignee on the transport document may be replaced by the mention «ROUTE SALE» when the following substances are transported to multiple consignees who cannot be fully identified before the start of transport:
    UN 1001 Dissolved acetylene.
    UN 1002 Compressed air.
    UN 1072 Compressed oxygen.
    UN 1202 Diesel fuel or fuels for diesel engines or mineral oil for light heating.
    UN 1965 Liquefied petroleum gas mixture, n.o.s.
  6. In addition to the mandatory indications, the shipper shall indicate on the transport document the following: «Transport in accordance with the terms of section 1.5.1 of the ADR (ADR M 236)».
  7. This agreement is valid among the Contracting Parties to the ADR that have signed this agreement until May 12, 2016, unless revoked before that date by any of the signatories, in which case it shall remain applicable only to transports carried out in the territory of the Contracting Parties to the ADR that have signed it but have not revoked it, until that date.
