🚛 NEW MAXIMUM AUTHORISED MASSES FOR ROAD TRANSPORT(effective October 2025; tankers from January 2026)

Articulated Heavy Vehicles and Road Trains:

  • Two-axle motor vehicle with a three-axle trailer (1) and (5): 42 tonnes
    (Previously limited to 40 tonnes, except for multimodal container transport: 42 t)
  • Three-axle motor vehicle with a two- or three-axle trailer (1) and (5): 44 tonnes
    (Previously limited to 40 tonnes, except for multimodal container transport: 44 t)

Additionally, improvements are introduced for electric or alternative fuel vehicles, allowing an increase of 1 to 2 additional tonnes, depending on the technology and the urban environment.


Euro-Modular Combinations (EMS):

The maximum authorised mass is increased from 60 t to 72 t, enabling more sustainable and competitive transport operations.

⚠️ Transport of dangerous goods prohibited in EMS:
“Under no circumstances may the load of a Euro-Modular combination exceed the footprint of the vehicles carrying it. Dangerous goods requiring the display of regulatory hazard signage under the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR) may not be transported in EMS. All transport must comply with the applicable conditions and restrictions of the ADR.”
